Juanita McGowen a.k.a “Beatlebabe” is a professional marketing executive and journalist with over 10 years’ experience in business and media.
She is seen as a major influence in the Midlands’ unsigned music scene – in 2010, she was chosen as an industry judge for the Midlands Surface Unsigned Competition and 2011 for Open Mic UK.
Born and bred in America, she has worked as a radio presenter and promotions assistant in Ohio for WBNO FM/WQCT AM and WXKR FM and also as a music columnist for Toledo’s independent lifestyle newspaper, The Weekly.
With an academic background in music appreciation and technology, she has the ability to comment on most mainstream music styles with a forte in classic rock, metal, blues, country and indie genres. She’s had the pleasure of interviewing and reviewing music industry greats like Alice Cooper, .38 Special, B.B. King, Goo Goo Dolls, Ray Manzarek, Guns-n-Roses, Billy Duffy, Stiff Little Fingers, Joe Satriani, David Crosby, The Specials, Ray Davies and The Allman Brothers. London School of Journalism awarded Juanita a diploma with distinction in music and arts writing.
Her writing has also been featured on Zavvi, Radio Lutterworth, Events On magazine, It’s Alive magazine, Rokpool, Ryan’s Gig Guide, Planet Loud, Brum Live, makeitinmusic.com and Northamptonbands.co.uk. She writes regularly for Midlands Rocks and Midlands Music Maniacs.
